Have 94 Explorer. DTFE (new hoses), EGR, and EVR Selenoid all replaced. Code now emitted is 558 = EGR Vacum Regulator Circuit Failure.

My questions is: Does the circut failure code mean ellectrical circuit or does it mean the circuit of air recirculation from the manifold to the EGR system components? Could it be a dirty tube running from the ex. manifold to the DTFE or?

This problem is starting to piss me off because I have changed all 3 components of the system. Also spits out a 332 EGR flow isufficient code.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

James.

Check the wiring from the DPFE sensor and the vacuum solenoid. You may have a chafed or burned wire that's grounding out, or two wires shorted. 558 is electrical circuitry. HTH

Still can't figure this one out. Also, the CEL (for the 558 code) comes on and off intermitently. What perhaps does this mean?

Thanks.

James.
