hey guys, my check engine light came on last night. also, when the truck is under load (or revd at 2.5-3.0 grand), i hear a fluttering noise from the back of the engine. my friend listened to the exhasut, and it sounded awkward , kinda like it was missing. i pulled the codes this morning and for the KOEO i got 332: "EGR Valve opening not detected". i just replaced this over a month ago, so i dont think it could have gone already. i also cant run the KOER tests becuase i cant seem to get that "goosing" in the dynamic response down. itl either spit 538: "Insuffient change in RPM/operator error in Dynamic Response Check" or 167: "Insufficient Throttle Position Sensor change during Dynamic Response Check".

could some one help me figure out how to do that DRC and help me troubleshoot this engine?! help pleease!

thanks guys :)

How about clogged cats? It sounds like an exhaust backup which can cause those codes.
:chug:

i dont thik it could be taht.. it happened all of a sudden. also, its real loud from under the hood. so loud i can hear it inside the with the doors closed while driving. from the inside, it sounds liek a buzz/ card in bike spokes. not rachety, but a flipping card-like... its soo hard to describe

Check the EGR tube/hose very carefully for cracks/pinholes. Sounds like you have a leak.

UPDATE:

for some reason, the check engine light turns off when i go uphill - however, the sound still continues.

in the mornings, i can drive about 7 miles before the noise and the check engine light come on.

does this help guys?
thanks

im gunna try and pinpoint the problem this weekend... ill keep the post updated.

Sounds like an air leak - egr, vacuum lines/tree - or an exhaust leak - O2 sensor, gaskets.

after poking around the hood... my dad and i thought the DPFE sensor had gone bad again.. but we noticed that a red vacuum line that should have been on it was off.. we're still not sure it was off before, or we knocked it off moving the hoses around. but we conencted it and so far no CEL.

as far as the DPFE goes... does any one know what wires are which on the plug? Hanyes metions one of them is a reference wire etc kinda looks like:

[top]
___
ooo\----- (wire) ?
oooi|---- (wire) ?
ooo/----- (wire) ?

thanks for the help guys.. ill let ya know if anything happens
