yea i was surprised you made it in the explorer. sounds so nice.

everybody that didnt come sucks for not coming. had fun tho. talked with unclemeat for awhile, ate, brandon showed up 2hrs late, unclemeat left and hung with brandon for a couple hours.
apparently i need to say thank you to unclemeat. after my brownie i got a check for just a brownie, asked the waitress and she said you paid for my food! lol
i can paypal you back if you want, dont know if you even noticed it lol


ps, that waitress was cute. but 200miles for a 20.354329% chance doesnt work out that great.

missed meet and greet

sorry to have missed the meet and greet..... if i were in town i definately would've been there ...... meat just picked the one weekend when i was outta town...... think he did it on purpose? nah i was actually up in the clifton forge area doing some recon for rides up there. iddnt findanything worth a crawl just some very scenic forest roads and one downright scary public road that made the forest roads seem like a paved superhighways.

Be careful on the camping idea on Shoe Creek. A lot of that run (most) is not in the forest (i.e. private lands) and the folks near the bottom have been known to be unfriendly (this goes back to my kayaking days and run ins with police etc) The area at the top where we all have camped at one time or another is specifically prohibited although i dont know if it is actively enforced. Dont fear if you do the shoe creek run and cant find a camp the stony run is only a few miles away with camps not far off the parkway and it is in the GWNF.

if i am with you guys i can bring you back to my place on the James for swimming drinking etc (about 30-45 minutes east of shoe creek). i have a couple hillclimbs and and a trap that i have not tried yet because i want someone else there with a recovery vehicle in case things (or I )get goofy. i have done them in the ATV but not the explorer.

Yes, I was taught a good lesson on the boundaries and "grey" areas of Shoe Creek.. Ranger David Whitmore lectured (in the kind way) about what areas that are safe to wheel, not safe to wheel and to wheel at our on discretion. He's a GREAT guy, extremely nice to talk to, knows everyone and keeps tabs on the the property owners to make sure they're happy up there. I can give you his contact information if your in the area a lot.

Good news is "Slick Rock" is back open.. the Heep I built broke on it.. just gotta get the Explorer up there next to show Jeep how it's done!

I'd be down for any wheeling trip in VA if you guys set up one.. just let me know. I may not have 4x4, depends on how fast I can get a new set of CV's in.. lol Trying to take care and button up a few ends on the new engine first.
