Changed out Compressor.... followed instructions (no cold air)

No charge on the system; changed out the compressor, the accumulator, all the o-rings; vacuumed it out, held vacuum for an hour, replaced the Freon, (not the full amount); a/c clutch engages, shows charged on gauge...
Hot air only....

I switched from the manifold gauge set, to just the little set up from the can: AC pro...
For lack of better words, and knowledge, it seems “vapor locked”... if that makes sense. Of course the gauge on the AC pro, shows it drifting passed the”Green charged”...

pressures that may be harmful.

Need to know high side as well as low side pressures.

I have the gauges... I will check tomorrow, and then let you know, if that’s cool... after being under the hood, yesterday and this morning, I’m done for now. Heat doesn’t bother me, but My Wife, wanted Me for other things. Thank You for Helping Gary!

Its not going to blow cold if the pressures are not right. Not to mention the low side could read anywhere from 20-50 psi and be correct, it all depends on outside temperature and idle speed. Thats why those green/yellow/red gauges you get on the cheap cans are almost useless.

An explorer can take a boatload of freon depending on if its rear ac or not. Find the sticker under the hood and it will give you fill specs. Buy enough cans to get you a little extra (you always can't get it all out/ loose some purging lines) and jam it all in there.

Without the Explorer running, gauges show: 28 lbs on low side, 31 lbs on high side

31 psi high side? You sure? High side is not supposed be the same pressure as low side.

Not a hundred percent sure on third gens where it is or if it was built inside one of the parts your replaced, but did you replace the orifice tube?

That aint right. That tells you the ambient temp is
about 60ish degrees outside.

Ford has always tuned the a/c for about 40 degrees out the
center vent, max, recycle air stabilized at about 2K-2.5K rpm

That's properly charged and refilled. If he is undercharged then it will read lower.

Per your location it should be 94 degrees outside. You are undercharged or the compressor is not doing it's job.

Basically there’s about 15 oz of refrigerant in the system.... if I need to take stuff back apart, I don’t want to add any more. Unless that’s advisable... I didn’t change the orfice filter out... as the one that came in the “kit” looked small... I think... I can change it though

No metal in the system to my knowledge, when I vacuumed it out, it held for over an hour, no change
