I have pulled the transfer case and unhooked all the electrical and the cooler lines and removed all the bolts on the transmission. I started rolling it back and get about 4" inches and it hangs up. Any pointers?

Thanks

You didn't mention that you unbolted the torque converter. Access to the four nuts is through the starter. Converter has a long shaft that extensds into the transmission. Before the new transmission is installed it has to be fully seated in the transmission with three engagements. Pilot should be back more than 1/2 inch from the face of the transmission. Don't do that and you can kiss your new tranny goodby.

Thanks for the quick response. That was the problem. Can't believe I missed that.

Don't Feel Bad

I did the same thing last month when replacing the trans in my 91 eddie. It is a ***** of a job to do your self but it feels good to drive it when your done.

Hope it worked out and your back on the road.
