I have a '00 XLS 2WD with a 3.55 rear axle. I'd like to change out the differential to a limited slip 3.73. I think the vehicle speed is calculated off the differential. Do I need to have the computer reprogrammed to ensure the speed is correct? If so, any tips on making the change? Also does anyone know what year differentials will work for a '00?

Thanks,

Jim

the axles from a 95 and up will work, but you have to take out the sensor on top of the pumpkin and move it to the new axle, as it is not just the abs sensor, but also the speed sensor.
as for the speed difference, i am not sure, but somebody will know,,

The 95-01's all used the same sensor in the rear pumpkin. Its just the 98-01s used it to obtain a speed reading as well as the ABS reading. So you won't need to swap sensors around.

But you will need to get a custom programmer or chip to tell the computer your new axle ratio. Kind of a pain.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the quick response.

Jim
