Changing clutch on 93 Explorer - help needed - tranny wont slide back in

I want to thank everyone for thier help. I guess the slave was holding it out, i slid the tranny back in enough to get my hand in there (still leaving the exhaust in place) and the alignment tool went right back in.

so i took the bleeder screw out and in a few minutes it was all the way in.

i'm working on very limited time full time 6 days a week with my job and its dark and cold in new jersey when i get off work, the job was not that bad at all if it wasnt raining and cold everytime i worked on it

all thats left now is the front driveshaft and bleeding the clutch (that should be fun lol)

also is there a drain hole for the transfercase? i see the fill hole...cant seem to find a drain hole unless its nasty covered in dirt or something? it looks like someone put gear oil in there, but mitchel calls for auto tranny fluid in both manual trans and transfercase, im gonna switch both of those while im under it.

cool, i did a search and i think the balance weight or whatever on the back is hiding the drain plug, i'll have to check that out.

I've heard the same. Kinda lame if you ask me!

Yes it is.. and there are only 4 bolts to remove to take the weight/dampner thingy off..

thanks guys

is there a sticky on bleeding out the clutch slave?

I did a search and some say it sucks, some say it isnt bad, some say to follow chiltons, some say not to, some say to just bleed it, some say to use a mightyvac (which i have) some say to use a syringe and shove it down the mc's throat?

lol

the drain plug for the transfercase is under the counter weight. also the fill plug is above it.
as for bleeding the clutch its like doing a brake line. some time you will get air traped in the master (cause of the angle it sit in on the fire wall) so wit some trucks its best to remove the master from the fire wall an tilt it back like a brake master.
if u have a mity vac it will be better to bleed. as just move the master out an back then pull a vac on the bleeder till you see all the bubbles gone. just make sure you dont run the resovior dry.
