Hi, I Recently lost a wheel, literally, and it got damaged. I seized this opportunity to get some new rims and tires. Since the car isnt here I had to do a bit of searching and found out the tires I have now are 235/75R15, my stock tires. Someone correct me if im worng. Im looking to upgrade to an 18 inch rim and by my calculations my new tire size should be 235/45R18. If im right, this sucks. Ive only found one tire this size, and its 250 bucks! Could I possibly go down to a 235/40/R18? If so I get about 12 more options, one of which is a Goodyear Eagle F1 thats 175 bucks. Someone help me, im Lost.

i do not see why they would not fit. they just be a little wider. if you got your info. from a website or dealer, they are going to give you the safest possible size, but that's usually not the only size that will work.

youre calculations are wrong. Go with a 255/55/18, thats as close to stock as you can get and salvage ride quality. Thats what I run my 98 EB.

Sideswipe what kind of modenas do you have? Im having a hard time finding wheels. I just found out that lightning wheels will not fit without an adapter, so it looks like im ghetting 18 inch cobra R's.

I have the Mondera Davanti Wheels, 18x8. I'm in NYC so there was no problem getting them. Let me know if I can help in any way. There is a wide selection of KMCs, Monderas and Albas available where i got mine.

Sideswipe, ive got a 91 Sport. The 91-94 tires are smaller than the 95-00s. Im confused on what tire I should get.

Well I'll tell you my 95 came stock with 15x7 235/75/15. So if youre stocks were the same, you will be able to fit the same wheel/tire combo under there as me.

What tires are you running? And do you have a pic of your Explorer? I was looking into some W rated Yokohamas that are about 225 a piece installed. Not bad for a tire with NO sidewall flex.

I'm running Pirelli Scorpions. You can check them out on my old ride at http://www.urbanelegance.com I havent gotten any pics of them on my 98 yet.

In most cases, a 31" tire well not fit a 91-94, but a 95 has no problems. So you really need to get one test fited if your goin with the same size as sideswipe. But some 91-94 stock can fit 31's. good luck

235/75R15
Diameter:28.9"
Section width:9.3"

255/55R18
Diameter:29"
Section width:10"

Hope this helps.
