Hello, I have a new 2025 Explorer model which is showing the charging system service soon message randomly when I turn off the auto start feature. I have taken it to be looked at the dealer service center about 4 times and nothing has been resolved. Is this something that others have experienced? what was the solution for those who eventually got it dealt with?

Do you lock your Explorer at night? When we first got our 2020 we did not and it gave us a similar message. They will drain the battery at night if not locked up.

The older models had a problem draining the battery, have you checked the battery charge? Maybe that's what is happening here.

Yes, I do lock it at night. The technicians asked if I kept the key close to the vehicle, but I didn’t, so that wasn’t a solution I could try either.

Yes, the battery is showing a good charge. The lowest charge it has shown so far is around 70 and the service department has run a deep charge on the battery and it still shows this error message.

Try resetting the BMS. It might work and is easy to do.

I searched around, and some guys had this same message when they disabled the auto start/stop function. It may be related to the Battery Monitoring System (BMS). If I were you, I'd read your manual and take a stab at resetting the BMS. If that doesn't work, I'll bet it's a software issue and the dealer needs to make a software update. They may not have researched it deep enough. If your dealer is not helping, try a different dealer. They do have means to escalate issues to Ford for deeper assistance.

My POS 2021 Explorer Hybrid AWD Limited Displayed "Charging System Service Soon" last Thurday on first start of day. Same on Friday too. Today Sunday it shows everytime I start it. Have appointment Monday. 24,350 miles. Last time in service they replaced fuel filler neck for gas tank and dented the fender and left a hose clamp loose had to return 2 weeks later.

Let's Go Ford

$500.47 for a new battery 4 years and two weeks from build date. This save the enviroment crap is a joke.....How much carbon gets dumped into the air when a traditional battery that lasted 5 to six years is replacled with a 4 year advanced POS to handel stop start..Let's Go Liberals

I have a 2021 Explorer Hybrid AWD Limited also and had a recall done back in Nov'24 for a rear axle bolt and the charging system service soon message came on when I picked it up. I asked the service department if this was some kind of coincidence and they didn't know off hand but wanted me to book it in for another appointment. So you're saying they replaced the battery and it solved the problem?

Just a wild guess, maybe during programming they had accessories on for a whole and that drained the battery causing Charge System soon code.

Thanks, will give it a try!

May also be related to the auxillary battery that hybrids have in the trunk.

See:

Good point, I will check into that also.

Update on my "charging system service soon" message - Ford ended up issuing a service bulletin on this warning and after a few shop visits and two 125 amp fuses later they did get it resolved; at least the warning doesn't come on anymore.
