Cheapest way to fix the common X Sport rear suspension sag

I believe its the one in the frame where the shackle attaches to the frame.

Goodluck. You can always throw an AAL in if you think it will be saggy still. I am going with the AAL and shackles. I am expecting a firmer ride, but hopefully it doesn't ride like a tank.

Grabbed a set off another 99 4 door that look to be in great shape. All the bolts came off with little effort. I'll grab a before pic today, and another after they're installed.

Oh yeah, and 35 bucks a pop.

The Pick n Pull Explorer I pulled these from was 10x easier without air tools than they were from my Explorer X. This was in -15 to -20 Celsius as well in the snow. I had both out of the 4 door in one hour or so, this took me all afternoon on mine. (But I admit, there's a bit more to installing them than taking them out)

So far, as she sits in the garage, she looks level - which is what I want.

I put the driver side from the 4door onto the passenger and vice versa on my X. To offset how one spring had the weight of the gas tank on it's side for it's entire life.

You make good points, but i imagine ford wants over 100 a side, I got used ones for 35 a side and bought the AAL for 35 bucks. The sport is lighter than the 4 door so even if the springs were slightly saggy on a 4 door it should sit higher on a 2 door. If he is on a budget I think it will work fine, but if you have the money you are right. Regardless of the route you will want all new hardware,

Just a follow up, the local Ford stealerships want $563 for leaf springs. PER SIDE!!!

I found out we have a well known leaf spring company here in Calgary called Standen's. They have them for 180 bucks a side, and are stronger than the factory ones by 200-300 pounds. They can also add a leaf or re-arc them for extra lift too. What a great spot they were, I'll be dealing with them in the near future.

My truck for the most part will probably stay stock ride height. At most a TT.

But my 99 has the typical rear suspension sag that makes it look like it always has a bit of weight in the back.

What is the cheapest way to cure this? Warrior shackles I would think will raise the vehicle too much, causing me to have to raise the fronts.

Anyone else just level the vehicle out? I'd rather not lower the front to match...

My truck sagged ALOT. All I did was have the leafs re-arched and also added a leaf. Then I got Stronger Bilstein Shocks. Shes a tad higher than stock now and looks awesome.

shocks with overload springs. i use to sag in the rear as well and more to the driver side. here is a pic:

jsuk tascaparts.com (ford oem parts) has the leafs for 280$ per side, which is a heck of alot better then what you were quote or any ford dealer would quote.

I've found a local shop that deals only with leaf springs - 183 per side. Much strong than the factory ones too. It's in my post a few posts up.

I just bought new springs @ McCoy Brothers for 131 each. Ubolts where 4.74

This weekend i finally installed my Warrior shackles and cheap sensatrac shocks saggy rear end fixed still running the mono leaf looks and rides fantastic.\
tho i must admit being an Ontario truck 13 salty winters even with undercoaing it took me 8 agonising hours to remove the shocks and shackle mounts and 5 cans of Pb blaster but it was worth it
