When Im driving up a hillfor any length of time my chech engine light comes on then it will go off after a few mins. I know it has somethin to do with the electronic control system but i dont know why it will go on and off at random times. What might be the problem?

To be able to help diagnose the problem(s), you must have the code(s) read.

Good luck ........

Like Al said, get the codes pulled (Autozone will do it for free) and we can help from there. Otherwise its a crapshoot trying to diagnose the problem.

Yes, places like Autozone will pull the codes for free in the hopes of selling you something. This assumes the person behind the parts counter knows how to handle EEC-IV/OBD-1 codes. It seems that a lot of them only know how to do OBD-2. It's easy enough to pull codes yourself on a '94 with only a paper clip (or other form of jumper wire). I like the instructions at www.troublecodes.net/Ford but there are many other sites that explain the process, too.

Either way, it can help in diagnosing to not only note the trouble code, but to also note for each code whether it's a KOEO, CM, or KOER code.

just outside of calgary, check engine light came on for two minutes i guess,
the oil gauge jumped up and down, and the coolant temperature gauge rose.
sound familliar? the floor mat was rolled up under the gas pedal
it actually prevented the truck from shifting back down to third and caused an overheat. i hope the problem is this simple for you
