What gives with this stupid light! Two weeks ago when it came on I took it to the dealer to have them get the codes for me and came up with a low voltage to the mass air flow sensor, and gripes with my left and right EGO sensors. I have now replaced all three components and the light just came back on yesterday!!! My vehicle is the 1993 Explorer XLT 4dr 2WD with 138k miles on it. The truck seems to drive real good since doing the R&R of those bad sensors.

Is the Explorer one of those vehicles that has to have the dealer reset the check engine light? If so, I'm just gonna put some electrician's tape over at and call it done. I did disconnect my battery for about 10 minutes to try and "reset" the computer. Got any suggestions?

I am going to look in my Haynes manual. To reset the codes you need to do more than just unplug the battery, you have to jump to pin in the test connector under the hood, (but I don't remember witch two) and put key to ON then when CHECK ENGINE flash pull the wire of the pins.

I too was getting the intermitent 'Check Engine Light'. I read the codes and it was pointing me towards the EGR valve. As I started looking in this area, I noticed the vacuum lines were a little cracked. As soon as I touched them they fell apart. I replaced the lines ($3.29) and the light has been off for about 3 weeks now. I did not reset my codes though. I figure if something else comes up, they will be overwritten. BExplorer is correct. You have to clear them with the KO and jumping the connection. If you have a code reader, this is done by putting the switch back into 'hold' mode while it's flashing the codes.

Hmmm...I don't have a code reader. What do I do now?

Thanks,
