I have a 2006 Ford Explorer Limited. This winter the check engine light was coming on. We felt a lunging when we pulled away from a stop or reached highway speeds. They replaced the spark plugs ant this problem was solved. Now, three weeks later the check engine light is back on and when you decrease speed, usually taking your foot off the gas, the battery light will come on. Sometimes it is on for a short time and other times it is on for extended times.
I don't know if there is a connection, but it seems to happen the most in cold -5C temperatures. Today it was +13C and all lights were off in the panel. The truck is still working fine. Any comments on this? Is there any history in the Explorers of cold weather and these lights being on?
