i recently took an hour trip to visit a buddy in college and half way there my radio went wacko on me. its the factory cd in an limited. it wouldnt turn off or on and it kept flashin 12:00 over and over and couldnt be stopped. i pushed every button and eventually just pulled over to shut my X off. it has not done it since. i know my friend had a 90 bronco II and his heater would over heat his radio if it on for a while. but the weird part is right after i started going again my check engine light came on. im not sure what it is im going to get it checked, but the light turned off now and comes back on once in a while for about 10 min then turns off again. does anyone know about the radio ?? could it have something to do with the cdplayer?

my check engine light comes on about 5 mins after i start my ex... it pisses me off because i had just about everyone in town hook up the OGB II and no one canfind why this light is on..
i have no idea why

Scotty, it might have something to do with the fact that your explorer is not OBD II.

did you take yours to ford?? im going to tomorrow. also do you know if they charge just to fun a diagnostic?? if so how much (roughly) thanks

Try taking the negative cable off the battery for about 15 minutes...this re-sets the computer so that the "check engine" problem will not keep re-occuring if you have already fixed it.......I.E. lets say it came on b/c of the TP sensor....you fixed it, but didn't reset the computer......the comp still thinks it's bad and doesn't see that it has been replaced.......this is b/c the code is "set" in the computer...re-setting it erases the code, and the light will not come on again till there is another problem!!
