Auto Zone read the code as P01130 & P01131, but he couldn't find out what they meant.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

P0130 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1) and P0131 O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 1) thats right from my code readers book looks to me like that had too many numbers

so from the looks of it you need to replace your oxygen sensor

Thanks for the help! Looking at the Chilton manual and it is showing C169 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) #1 & C182 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) #2 and both of these are under the hood near the firewall. It also says there are 2 near the catalytic converter, one in front of it and one behind it. About the time the Check Engine light came on, the Catalytic Converter started smelling like rotten eggs.

Base on this, is it possible that the ones that are bad are the ones near the Catalytic Converter or should I get all 4?

chameleon you have put a 1 in double in your numbers thats why no one found it :P

I just put it exactly as the Auto Zone dude wrote it down.

 :hammer:

If your catalytic converter smells like rotten eggs, you may get it checked out. Usually this smell indicates that this is your problem.

well thats the problem you went to auto zone..... but yes the o2s sound like the problem.. i would just replace all 4 they are cheap enough and easy enough to get to so why not... may i also suggest a new cat... i know they are expensive, but if it smells like rotten eggs it has or is on its way out... u can get like an aftermarket high flow cat for like a hundred bucks just some generic one u know.. but i would def get a cat as well as the o2s

Help! Ive been reading all about the codes but I'm obviously not getting something. I've been getting the P0131 Oxygen Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 1). My problem is that I don't understand what the problem indicates the problem really is.

I just bought this '97 4.0 AWD and the check engine light was on when I bought it. I've tried swapping the sensors (the same as on my '91) and the problem persists indicating the sensors are fine. Is there any reference that would lead me as to what the actually problem/fix is?

Thanks,
Mark

8/10 its a bad sensor or connection to it as P0131 is a sensor issue.

I suggest buying a new one and trying that to see if it works.

But before all of this, did you clear the codes before starting the engine with the one you swapped out. The PCM will store the code for a few start times and if all is good, it will reset itself, but if all is no good, it will continue to throw the code.

Was there any more different codes?

How do you clear the codes???

I had my light come on,went to autozone and got the camshaft position sensor.I replaced the sensor and disconected the battery and it stayed of.Once I turned the truck off and restarted it the light came back on.

Went back to autozone and got the camshaft position sensor code again.

Thanks!!!

Disconnecting your battery is unnecessary. To reset your check engine light pull the fuse. Its a 10 amp fuse, look in the manual.
