Well, it's been doing this for over a year now. The 1st time my check engine light came on, it was good ole' cokde P0401 - EGR Flow Insufficient. Well, I went ahead andf replaced the egr valve. A few days down the road it came back on, this time it was code P0402- EGR Flow excessive. I have checked all the vacuum lines and connections around the egr. Everything appears to be fine.
Well, the check engine light come and goes as it pleases. It will just turn itself off sometimes. I would just like to know what is causing this? The performance of my engine is still very good, even when the check engine light comes on. Anyone ever had similar problem?

Third on the DPFE. It fixed the problem on a Thunderbird and an Explorer. Very common failure item.

Whats DPFE?

My truck is doing the same thing. $200 scan tool said EGR problem but was cheapy and did not give code number, so I was going to go by Ford.

Anyway what does DPFE stand for?

Greg
