My CEL has been coming on for about a month now, in three day intervals. I got the codes checked the other day at autozone. I believe the codes were PO153 and PO133. It meant a slow responce in my 1st O2 sensor in both the left and right banks. Can anyone tell me if these can just be cleaned and reinstalled. The guy at autozone told me they could be. I hope so cause i dont' want to spend this money. And is there any possiblility of it being something else? I'm new to this computer stuff. Thanks for the help. Note: i have 51,000 miles on it right now....

Slow response

is one of the few good reasons to replace an O2 sensor. 50K seems a little early, usually sometime after 100K. Have you noticed a loss of coolent? Cleaning an O2 sensor, got to love those Autozone guys! Heard Windex works for everything.

Yeah cleaning the O2 sensors was something i never heard of before. But he told me to do it with a wire brush, i think i'll just use a sawzall. ;) I do have a coolent loss too. I don't know if it is related, actually i doubt it is. But thanks for the help so far. You don't happen to have any pics of the O2S so i can figure out how to disconnect it. It is so hidden that i can't see it after i get my hands on it so i don't konw what i'm doing. A picture would help a lot. Thanks

Coolant will kill O2 sensors

If the leak is internal to the engine. It is the only thing that I can think of that would cause the sensors to fail this soon. The sensor has a metal shield protecting the element. So a sawsall would be needed in order to clean it.
