Ive got a 99 5.0 Awd.

Trans shifts fine. Recently got the truck a bit muddy
Washed it last night, sprayed underneath real good. Today check engine light pops on and the P0705 is what it showed. Connector on the sensor is fine and tight. Any ideas? Bad sensor?

Ive tried finding the sensor online but cant find it on any auto parts websites. Anyone find it and have a part number.

Any other suggestions besides replacing it?

Clear the code and see if it comes back. Only do this if it comes back. It sounds like water got in the connector or the sensor, remove the connector and use very low air pressure 10 to 20 lbs and blow both out, spray both with WD 40. Do this at your own risk.

Cleared it yesterday and it came back the second start of the truck. Cleaned both halves of the connector and that did nothing

Is this also called the neutral safety switch? Its the only thing I find when searching for the part. It looks like it...

Anyone have opinions about aftermarket replacements from past experience?

I hate to throw parts at it trying to find the problem so if anyone has any other suggestions please share.

I cleared the code after cleaning the connectors and the cel came back after two starts. I have reverse lights, it only starts in park and neutral...

Thanks in advance

Well I put another sensor on it, had the light cleared and it stayed off for about 12 hours. Im stumped. Anyway this could be caused by something more serious? Anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance!

Is it correctly adjusted? Will it start in park and neutral? Also will the back up lights come on in reverse.
You replaced the digital trans range sensor, mounted on the trans behind the shift lever?

Its adjusted if not perfectly. It starts only in park and neutral, reverse lights work. Trans shifts fine, no other symptoms. Only other problem with the truck is a bad trans mount. Im out of ideas. I scheduled an appointment with ford tomorrow at 10 am so I guess Ill see what they say.

Well I took it to Ford yesterday and $230 later it was a bad range sensor. I guess the one I got was faulty. Light hasnt come back yet.

Thanks for the reply back, glad you got it fixed, sorry to hear that the one you put on was bad.
