Hey Guys,

I was recently driving home with a bunch of my buddies from a fishing trip way up north where the roads are extremely bumpy and it shook a vacuum line from the engine to my intake completely loose. I only noticed after I slowed down to pull into a gas station to, you guessed it, get gas, and it stalled on me. It would start up and then stall right away. Anyway, I found the loose hose and put it back in the intake and it started up and idled fine after that but the check engine light stays on now and won't go away even though it drives fine after 3 days of driving since the incident with the vaccuum line. I read in the manual that after 3 cold engine starts and with city and highway mixed driving it should go away but it hasn't. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Scott

the manuals lie... you need to have the code read and reset

WHat about disconnecting the battery for a while and hooking it back up?

Is there a trick to pulling codes or do you have to buy a code reader OBDCII reader or something like that?

On my 99 Intrepid, you could throw the car in neutral, turn the key to on then off three times in succession without starting the car and it would give you codes. Anything like that on the Ex?

Get the coce(s) that caused the CEL illumination read.

Good luck .......

You should get the codes read. Most Autozones will do it for free. Take action on any codes that you think are necessary. After getting the codes, unhook the battery for 5 minutes. This should reset them.

More prudent advise would be to take action on ALL codes.

Good luck ........

It's obvious your light is on because the vac came off. Unhook the battery for a while and hook it back up and it should be gone. If it is, no need to do anything else. If it comes back or is still there after, that would probably mean something else is wrong causing the truck to fart off the vac hose. Then I would definitely have it read and fix whatever it is.
Good luck
Peace

Thanks for all of the advice guys!

I know that the cause for the CEL is the vacuum line that came loose so I'll take the advice of falls guy and just disconnect the battery for a while to clear things.

check eng light wont go away

My old womans expl did the same thing. Found out it wa sthe fuel pressure reg was putting out too much pressure and basically fouling the oxy sensor. Put in new reg and every thing was all right from then on. Its worth a try.

I don't understand the reason for this post? His problem has nothing to do with a fuel regulator.
