Check engine light

Since about 2 months my check engine light is burn. My question is: if I have a check engine code, is it going to be written on the message center? I have a 1996 explorer limited 5.0. Thanks

Just take it to a local parts store, and they should be able to pull the code for you.

Yes I know but I just want to know if it is possible to see if we have a check engine code without the light...

yes your computer can have a code stored without the light being on

But no you can't see the code on the message center. You need to read the code with an OBD-II reader via the OBD port underneath the steering wheel.
