Check engine light

The check engine light came on in my 05 limited. I have quotes ranging from $70 to $150 to read the code.
The Sears tool catalog has a code reader on sale for $99!!!
Am I missing something? Can I spend $99 to read and reset codes?

Go to autozone and get the codes read or you can probably by a code reader for under $50 now adays
