Check engine light is now history

Has anybody got a 558 code, I was trying to get the EGR to work and messed with the EGR solenoid now I get the code. Is there anyway to diagnose the egr solenoid? I did replace the
egr valve but made the mistake of dismantling the egr solenoid, replaced o2s, cleaned MAF, felt like shooting holes in the engine, any ideas?

Well, replaced the solenoid, then got a 33 code, EGR not closing. I was watching the egr at 2000 rpm it would open but not close until the rpm's were lowered. So I replaced the FPE sensor that measures exhaust flow, engine light is now out and it opens and closes like it should. Total cost of this of all this BS, egr valve 40, Control solenoid 25, and then the FPE sensor 40. Probably did not need the first two, but oh well. My MPG was down to 13, I will repost as soon as I run a tank through, though I think it should make a difference.
