anyone know anything about code 214, failure of cylinder identification sensor? my check engine light came on and i have a cheap code reader and that is what came up. i'm new to the site and have many more questions and have been looking thru the site for other tips, but haven't found this one yet. would appreciate it if someone knew anything or pointed out a thread on the site. thanks.

The cylinder identification sensor is also known as the camshaft position sensor. If you search for camshaft position sensor (CMP) you may find more information about it. The CMP may be bad or simply dirty. Keep in mind though that the code refers to an error in the circuit not necessarily the sensor. So be sure to inspect the wiring and connections.

If the truck is running ok, consider resetting the code to see if it comes back. Could have been a false reading.

yeah, i've reset the computer, but it keeps coming back. i will try checking the wiring to the cam position sensor. thanks for the tip.
