1994 Explorer Sport
Ok I have a 1994 Explorer Sport 4.0 with a 5 speed. It has about 125,000 miles on it and has developed some problems and I hope that someone can give me some help. The first code is EGR valve position sensor was bad. I assumed that it was the black thing that is under the egr vavle. I got a replacement from a friend at the local ford dealer and replaced the egr valve as well. Well the light is still there and showing the same code. Another code is MAF sensor voltage low. Well the MAF sensor is only about a year old because I replaced it too. I was wondering if anyone can give me some help with this. I am not into the explorers much I just use it for winter transportation. I normally drive a 95 Mustang GT. I thought that I would try here becasue I have always got good responses out of the mustang forums so any help with this is greatly appreciated. Oh just thought that I would add that the clutch has now started to slip but I know what that feel like being that I have killed two in the mustang. My question on that is how hard is it to change that. Like I said most of my experience is with the mustang and I can change the clutch in it in about 3 hrs. Once again thanks.

how is the vehicle running? is its mileage the same? was the computer reset after the new parts put in? some computers store codes until they are disconnected and reset

Well I unhooked the battery for about 30min like I would with the mustang and it was still there. The car seems to be seriously lacking in power at the moment and it will studder a little bit on the interstate sometimes. Gas mileage seems to be down a little bit too. And nnw the clutch has decided to start slipping too.

The MAF might just need to be cleaned. You replaced both the DPFE and the EGR? How were their tubes. Those get gunked up and may need to be replaced also. See if there is white crusty stuff in them........
