the check engine light is lit up on my 99 XL. The previous owner said the last time it came on it was for the O2 sensor and should be nothing to worry about. Is this correct or should I take it to be checked out? If that is all it is is there anyway to get the light to go out?

You can "turn off" the CEL with an OBD II scanner.

You need to scan to get the code and if indeed it is O2 sensor related, you need to fix it for optimal efficiency.

Good luck....

An OBDII scanner is about $140+. Autozone will often check it for free though. Make sure you get both the code and the definition when you get it checked. Most mechanics charge about $40-65 to check it.

Yea I was at AutoZone earlier today and saw a sign saying they did the ODBII scans for free...i'll have to take it up there soon....Thanks everyone
