check engine light

my check engine light is coming on regularly now. milage has dropped and as i drive along at about 50kms/hr the truck surges acceleration in little jumps. what could this be, o2 sensor, throttle position? i cleaned the maf but that didn't do it. so can anyone help me in my time of need?

Scan for a trouble code and then we can make logical suggestions.

Yup, get the codes read. For your OBD I engine computer, a reader is only $25-30, or a place like Autozone or Pep Boys will often do it for free.

The surging could be pointing to the TPS (throttle position sensor), but I agree with the other guys: you need to scan for codes.

There are a lot of things that could turn on the CEL.

I agree with Dogfriend, I would say TPS also.

And I'd invest in a code scanner for yourself, it'll come in very handy.
