I am lost. My check engine light keeps coming on randomly, and I am not sure why. Ford says unless it is on when I bring the Explorer in, they can't help me. Their only suggestion is that it may be the oxygen sensor, but that is all they told me. I have a KKM intake that needs to be cleaned (i am waiting for the cleaner to come in the mail). That is my only theory. I would appreciate and suggestions you all may have. Thanks.

I suggest taking it somewhere to have the codes read. I believe Autozone will read the codes but their information about the code is pretty much useless. I'm sure if you posted the results, someone here would be willing to help.

autozone will do it for free, and they will tell you what sensor is making the light come on. just make sure you call first to make sure there is someone there who knows how to use it, or you might end up with a wasted trip.

autozone has the same problem as ford, unless the light is on, they can't tell me what is happening. The problem is the light comes on and goes off all the time. Has anyone else had this problem?

Both autozone and your Ford dealer must be incompetent. If the check engine light comes on at all (even if it goes off) the code can still be read. Find someone that knows what they're doing.

Maybe it's the check engine light itself. If they are truely looking at the codes and there is nothing there then I would have to guess the CEL it shorting 'causeing it to come on.

Where's MSuperTek when you need him?

TANIKIWON has a point, even though it is not very common I have ran into the mil light malfunctioning and coming on with no codes stored in memory. Although on much newer vehicles. I witnessed the last one and pulled codes, recieved a P1111 Pass code, I fixed it soon I confirmed the problem exist.

Here I am!

If you can go have the code read and post it so we can send you the right direction.:D

Do you have a mass air flow sensor? If so it will make the light come on while under load ie: going up hill, accelerating, or anything like that. It will also do this without leaving a code. I went through the same thing. Let us know.

BTW: Mine came on when going 75+ and trying to accelerate

I agree with what Jason said; those folks are out to lunch.

I wouldn'r hit a wild dawg in the arse with a dealership.
