I have a 98 XLT 2wd. It has a 179,000 miles and runs great. This morning when I started it up the check engine light came on. I am trying to figure out what it is telling me is wrong.

I just wonder if the tempature dropping down to the mid 30's was an issue. It runs fine all day and no strange noise coming from the engine.

Any suggestion on what I could check first.

Get the code(s) pulled. Autozone does it for free.

The Codes that were pulled are as followed

DTC P0171 System Too Lean ( Bank1 )

DTC P0174 System Too Lean ( Bank2 )

I was thinking maybe the O2 sensors (upstream and downstream ) may need replaced.

Any suggestions

try a search for those codes... there are a million posts and threads on here about those codes.
