I seem to have a problem with my check engine light. I went on vac to Fl and half way there my check engine light came on. It did this two years ago same place. I went on for about 45 to an hour. It started to rain and it went out. No problems till I was on my way back, guess what about the same place it starts again. Last time it cost me 450.00 at the dealer in SC. When I got back the dealer here told me I could have made it back home with no problem, then deal with it. Does anyone have a clue? I havent.

You need to get the codes read, and then someone can help you solve the problem.

Some auto parts stores (Autozone) will read the codes for you for free. Make sure to get the exact code and then post it here.

There are lots of reasons that the CEL might be on.

Definitely got to pull the codes. Since '95's are OBD-1 you can pull the codes with a jumper wire and either read them off of the CEL or read them off of an analog voltmeter.

And remember, the trouble code doesn't necessarily tell you which part to replace, but in what circuit the computer saw a problem. You can get trouble codes from having a connector unplugged, bad connection, bad ground, or some other part that isn't under the computer's control. This is especially important to remember if you have a place like Autozone read your codes for you. They'll read the code and immediately try to sell you a part, without completely diagnosing the problem.

I went to Autozone today. I got a 12 for the code. He told me that is a clear code? So whats the deal? I know that when it blinks on the off it clears, but this was on for more then 45 mins.

Try someone else. '95's ouptut three digit codes. A code 111 is pass.

12.... Sounds like a GM engine.

ARRRRGH. You wouldn't be trying to fool Old Jack!
