Hello my name is Sam I currently am driving a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 4x2.

For the past few days I have noticed my check engine light has came on my X. My X only has 44,083 miles on it. And also when I drive it I doesn't feel like it has that much power to it. I dunno if my engine is damaged or something else wrong it.

I am going to be taking it to a shop tommorrow probably to replace my rear tires cause I got no tread in them. And then probably one of these days take it to ford to see what is causing the engine light to come on.

So if there is anyone out that thinks that knows whats wrong with my X please help a fellow explorer driver out.

Thanks

Sam

you can take it to an Auto Zone if you have them near you they will pull the code for you for free.
Once that is done post the code or codes here and we will help work things out for you.

What he said is the easiest and cheapest. Get the codes and post them.

Just don't let them start selling you a bunch of parts. A lot of times is as simple as a loose connections somewhere.

BTW: MONMIX needs to edit his sig...he doesn't have his hood scoops listed :D

Yeah a check engine light on a 2002 means one of about 400 possible things. Nice thing is instead of a guess, the computer is ready to tell you the EXACT codes for you to start from. "get the codes Luke."
