Whelp, she's on again, but I suspect it's the same problem as before I took it to the dealer and their fix didn't work...

I've noticed when I come to a stop sign or red light, it seems to idle very low and somewhat rough. About 75% of the time when I hit the gas, it hesitates for a good 1-1.5 seconds and then goes, almost like it wanted to stall out but then saves itself.

When these almost-stalls occur, it is always the same thing: (1) Come to a complete stop (2) Lightly push down on the gas (3) Nothing happens, push a little harder (4) Seems like it wants to stall, but then the engine kicks (5) Shifts to 1st and takes off.

I want to add that last dealer visit I had the full Ford tune up performed, and for a while, the problem went away, or so it seemed... but it has come back...

Any help is appreciated with this. I hate to take it to the dealer because of all the problems they have given me, but I will if necessary. I have about 4000 miles left on warranty and plan to get good use of all 4000.

sounds like tps

TPS? Do elaborate, and is it a do-it-yourself fix or is it definitely a take it to Ford fix?

Throttle Position Sensor, a sensor on the buterfly valve on your throttle body that lets the computer know how hard your pushing on the go pedal. If you look in either a Haynes or Chiltons vehicle manual they both give instruction on how to check the TPS but give the air that it is best to have a shop check the sensor. They say that you can check it yourself with a voltmeter or preferably an ohmeter but that is possible that during the test the varience in signal could be so quick that you might not catch it. I say if its under warentee let the them deal with it , they wont try and rape you till YOU are paying the repair bill. just my 3 or so cents. -sam
