For the past 3 weeks my check engine light has been turning on. Its funny though, the light turns on for about 2 minutes then turns off and the next day it would turn on and turn off once again.. what could that be?

You should get it scanned for trouble codes.

See www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html If you don't have a voltmeter or test light, then just hook up a jumper wire between STI and STO and the codes will be output as flashes of the CEL.
As you read the codes, be sure to distinguish between KOEO, KOER and continuous memory (CM) codes. It even makes sense to note which set(s) of code output a pass (111) code.
