Check gage/temperature gage

I have a 2004 explorer. Intermittently the check gage light will come on, the temperature gage will go up, the check gage light will go off, and the temperature gage will return to normal. All in a matter of seconds. Had the temp sender sensor replaced. Still happening. Any suggestions.

I believe it's controlled via the computer. So either the gauge is acting up, or the ECM. Some parts stores can test and update ECM's out of the car. Other wise have a shop check it out. Just make sure the shop has invested in the tools required.
