Hey i need some help choosing the right amp, i went ahead and got 2 12" Kicker Comp VR's(got them at an awesome price), but im not sure what to look for in an amp, i just want something decent...doesnt have to be kick ass, but not ****ty either. Music is a lot of rock and some rap if that matters with amp selection.

Thanks for any help.

Do you have the power ratings for the subs, Thats good info to know when picking an amp...

400 watts RMS and 800 watts peak

Their are a bunch of good amps for that level of subs... You can check Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, Alpine, most of the amps out their will have no problem running those subs.. Your main concern is how much you can spend, also you want to pick an amp that can put alittle more power then your subs can handle and run the amp lower, so you'll never have a problem with it over heating.. An amp that can push a thousand watts or two amps that can push 500 watts each, would be a realy good choice... Hope this info helps, check around the differnt manufaturs webs site and see what can be a good level for those specs and post a couple of the amps with links to the ones you think would work.. Good Luck

When you say an amp that can push 1000 watts you mean RMS correct?

Actually I mean max power, rms is the min amout of power that the amp will run at. But anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, thats just what I remember...

for exaple
An Alpine MRV-T320 2 channel amp

• Max Power (EIAJ) 140Wx2 (4ohm; Stereo) 400Wx1 (Bridged 4ohm)
• 12V RMS Continuous Power 50Wx2 2ohm (4ohm Stereo) 160x1 (Bridged 4ohm)

ok well im getting the dual 2 ohm subs, so would a Rockford Fosgate 1000BD Amplifier 1000 Watt Mono Amp be okay? It says 1000 W X 1 @ 2 Ohms RMS so will that be good?

Both are realy good amps, expensive but good... Plenty of power to run your subs... What your main consern is how much you can spend..

So the 500/1 would let me use my subs to the fullest? If so then there is no point in getting the 1000/1 correct?

Yea the 500/1 would work, but you said your getting two Kicker subs that can handle 400 watts right, So you can ether go with two 500/1 or just one 1000/1.... But ether route would/sould work...

I see no reason why It wouldn't work. Nice looking amp too.

Have you thought about looking for an amp on Ebay, you can usally always find them cheaper. Just a thought...

Im not getting it from there, dont worry im not that dumb lol. But yea i checked ebay also, I think im gonna end up getting it through a friend for about 260, seems good to me.

If you get the kenwood, run the subs as 4ohm each, combine them, making a 2ohm load, then it'll be giving the 915w split between the subs

Why cant i just run them normally at 2 ohms, since the subs are 2 ohms? Wouldnt i still get the 919 watts split? Im not even close to being an expert, just asking the question.

ok well now im not sure which subs to get the 2 ohm model or the 4 ohm?

also i need help choosing the right box, are those bandpass ones with the plexiglass and the ports really that much better? Can someone just tell me what to look for in a good box?
