May have been debated B4, but I have a white '03 sport and want to put some 'retro' looking 5 spoke american eagle 192 wheels on it. Whadda yall think I should go with...Chrome or Polished aluminum (clearcoated and stock 16" size)??? I may replace the stock nerfs with stainless ones and perhaps a Westin type brush guard in stainless as well. (Wish I could get Waag 'front and rear runners' in stainless!) Want a clean look for my truck. Gimme yer opinions please! Pics would be nice also!
Thanks

Aluminum is a little easier to take care of -- chrome can sometimes look too "shiny" for one car. But, I like the polished aluminum Diamond Backs

Whoops, the wheels I was looking at are NOT clearcoated....How hard are they to keep up when they are polished only???
Thanks
Puman

My Eagles weren't clearcoated either. They would streek a good amount with a bronze/brown looking streek. They'd come right out though, but how often do you wash your explorer? If you wash once every 2 weeks, you should be fine. Water will probably be your worse enemy - it won't realy damage the wheels, just cause it to streek quicker. My American Eagles do it, but hardly ever.

These are chrome , they are easy to look after ,they were on the car when I bought it, have been on for about 2 years. They were imported from the US don't know what brand they are. They still look good. 32 x15

HOLY COW BATMAN! thats an Awesome X, kina made your own Sport trac, did you do that conversion yourself?

Chrome is less maintance and maybe a little more durable. With polished, you have to do just that, polish that. Or they become dull and ugly.

I bought the X as is, someone else has done all the hard work. Im just adding the finer touches.

He did a whole lot of work. Looks cool though.

Chrome = easier to clean, but if it's chrome over steel, the wheel will someday develop rust.

Polished = requires a bit of rubbing to take out bigger water spots and such, but I really like the look of the aluminum wheels as they have a beefier look to them.

my eagle alloys are polished..an it takes a bit of work to keep them nice looking. but a mothers power ball helps that ALOT! somtimes i wish i had got chrome AR wheels that are the same style..but then again im pretty happy with these. they just take some up keep.

tell me how ot add a pic il lshow ya pic of my chromes

chrome = shiny, curb rash will really mess them up
polish = shiny but dull easier than chrome, hard work required to regain shine, easily fixed if damaged.
polish w/ clearcoat = shiny, dont dull like the non-clearcoated wheels, fixable if damaged, clear coat can be chipped

ive had all and prefer polished w/ clear coat. next in line is chrome and coming it last is polished. Non coated polished wheels are just too much work for me. I'll never do that again.
