I'm going to salvage yard to get a hitch. Will any one fit as long as its a 2nd gen, i have 98 sport. I realize i might have to to some modding as i have 16" wheels. other than that is that all. how about 2 door and four door does it matter? thanks guys, agian.

um how would a 16in wheel have anything to do with your frame ? thats what the hitch bolts onto... im kind of in the same boat i have a 01 sport... i take it they are all the same frame so does that mean we can get anyones hitch off an explorer? dont know how much different the frame rails are... good question bud... i need the same info...

i think a 16" spare tire might get in the way. theres a lip were the spare is, something might hit that.

Most hidden type hitches won't allow for a 16" spare without modification. Any hitch from 91-01 will fit your truck. 2 and 4 door models don't matter.

oh i heard all you had to do was like take a hammer to it or sumthing and just bend the metal in a bit.. that lip around the tire is quite spacious...

Does anyone know if one off the same year Rangers will fit?

Alright, I got the hitch from the salvage yard, it's off a 96 explorer. I don't know what brand it is but it's round, if that tells ya anything. Pretty sure it's class three as it wieghs 65# and is pretty stout. Now the problem is I don't see how it fits. The spare looks in the way and the warrior shackles look in the way. Any one have pics of their sport with a hitch so I can get some ideas? I would hate to have to take it to a shop .

My Hidden Hitch Class III tubular fits with a 16" spare just fine. Its possible, but maybe not with those ugly square ones that stick out below the bumper.

Ya know what was throwing me off? The stock tow point on the driver side under the bumper. Took it off, put the hitch under there and see ya, done, looks great. Gotta love black rustoleum.
