Okay folks, this might be a forehead slapper but someone had to find it sooner or later. I went by the shop at work and was talking to the mechanic and got on the subject of the two noises coming from my engine. One, the pinging, and the other, the rattling. I thought that it may be my hood rod, because the clip for it is broken. However, the other guy that was there grabbed my engine and shook it back and forth. Lo and behold, you heard a rattling. Coming from the engine mounts! Over the years they had shaken loose and started to rattle in the past months whenever I was accelerating. I am going to tighten them in the morning and hope they are not broke. Hope that this bit of info helps someone else!
