Generic electric contact/sensor cleaner should be exactly what you need. When you spray the service port, (or spray the rag) hold the computer so that the service port is facing the ground. That way the cleaner will drip off, not in...
Good Luck

I highly recommend AGAINST sandpaper.

Use the green pad that came w/ the chip, then clean off the residue w/ electrical contact cleaner

*Off topic* How long was that wait to get your chip... in your hands, after you payed?

oh man, i didn't get a green cleaning pad. it even says in the directions to use the ''enclosed cleaning pad'' and i don't have one. what is it like? should i buy one or email brian? s**t i was gonna do this today.

nweibley, i paid on the 25th of june(paypal) and got it today, july 5.

Alphabets, do you have a scouring pad or fine sandpaper? Just use something to scrub off the coating and silver color on the computer. Get it down to the copper color.

thanks tedrocket. i'll give it like a wet sand with some real fine sandpaper or scouring pad. thanks.

sorry, somehow I must have missed that. If you want I can express you one out. Normally I just use the standard green "scoch*Brite" pads from target. You can also use 220 grit sandpaper, which works faster. If you do use sandpaper just be sure you stop when you get a good copper surface. If you keep sanding after that it won't take long to start sanding off the contacts that you need to make a good connection.

don't worry about it brian, thanks for getting me the chip so fast. i'm just gonna use some light sandpaper or emory cloth or something to that effect and be careful. i'll let everyone know how the chip is after the install.
