Well, I finally lost one of my carbon fiber taillight covers and busted a headlight one, so I thought it might be time to try something new. I think clear corners looks pretty sharp and I wanted to see if anyone could answer a few questions.

1. Does anyone make DOT approved clear corners(the ones with the red). Has anyone tried just using some red spray paint to make em' :)? Is there a bulb out there that is actually red instead of pink?

2. Who makes the highest quality clears? The only place I really now of is Auto Syndicate... The reason I ask is because my brother bought clears for his civic, and the filled with water when it rained, and considering I drive through water when I off-road I probably should get good ones.

Thanks for any help.

I purchased the front clears from Autosyndicate and love them so far. The only problem that I could possibly see that your brother may have encountered is that (1) he may not have installed them properly (2) if a weathersripping goes around his, it may be worn.

As far as I know, they are the same light as stock with the exception of the lense and bulb so they should not leak or allow water to enter. Get an issue of Truckin' magazine - they have lots of dress accesories for trucks and only place, Dealers Sport Truck & Automotive - (562) 936-1230. They have lots of weird looking lights... colored clears.

I don't care what people say about http://autosyndicate.com/ I love there huge selection of clear tail lenses, and I wouldn't NOT buy any where else, unless they were of the same quality and price!

Everybody have a great night!

Hmmm... thanks for the help guys... Has anyone seen those DOT clears out for the Explorer? I'll check truckin' and hopefully they'll have something. I've seen them for new Rangers, and new Explorers, but not the 91-94s...

Thanks again.

As far as I know the "altezza" lights dont exsist. But every now and then I see wierd custom stuff for my explorer that I havent seen anywhere else... I saw some custom clears the other day... It was kind of painted to match the body paint and then was clear... made the lenses look smaller... someone prolly makes it for the ranger...

APC makes something close currently...

I have APC red/clears on my '00, the reverse light is done in red and the rest is clear. As far as I know, the DOT states you have to have a red reflector mounted into your taillight assembly and your brake light has to be red, so they're kosher as far as I know. At first I thought it wouldn't look right, but the red part matches with the 3rd brake light and it looks pretty cool, plus the light is scattered enough out of the clear brake portion so as to not give reason for someone to plow into you on a sunny day. APC finally has Altezza's out for late-model Rangers, so who knows, with a little luck they'll have them out for Explorers before the next Spring thaw :). As for maintaining bulb color, my APC 3157's are already pink/white after a couple months, so I bought some red silicone bulb covers from http://shop.sportruck.com and they seem to be doing the trick. I wouldn't suggest the LED lights because you cannot see them during the daytime, imagine holding a glowstick up in front of the sun, practically the same light quality, though they're very nice at night. Hope this helps.
