Clear Tail Lights

Yes I know this has been discussed many times over and over on here. A ebay seller told me that these all clear tail lights are DOT approved. When did this happen? I always thought they were for off road use only and they are not street legal. Either that or the seller is lieing to me.

Well if they are D.O.T. approved they should have the stamp on them. I can't see it from the pics.

i got clear corners from procarparts.com and they arent d.o.t approved so i dont think those tail lights will be

All DOT approved tail lights will at least have a red reflector.

Have u checked ProCarParts.com ... I have a set of these tails rite now, and think they look great. I have LED red bulbs in em and they light very nice. Wish I had a digital camera so I could post pic of em.

i never drive illegally with anything inside so it doesnt matter. I already have clear corners, illegal fogs, illegal bulbs in my diamond cut headlights. Oh well I cud care less. cops around here dont care (knocks on wood)

eh i dont think it matters as long as the bulb is the right color... but even then if you get pulled over and decide to do something, just paint he brake light and youll have some nice euro tails (by this i mean like BMW's with a white signal and white revers light). all the cops will do is issue a fix it ticket


p.s. imma get some after i pay my hefty 6 month insurance bill

No, 2nd-Gen-A (95-97) do not fit 2nd-Gen-B (98-01) - your tails and tailgate are shaped differently. Someone posted a thread with pics of a swap to settle the issue.

can't seem to find it, but if you look at a 95-97 tail, it is ultimately rectangular in shape with "square" corners. The 98-01 has a rounded upper-inner corner (where it meets the tailgate).

The 98-01 CAN be installed on a 95-97, but it has a big gap at the upper-inner corner and looks like ****, whereas installing a 95-97 tail on a 98+ body will end up cracking the lense when the tailgate shuts....
