Clearing codes on 04

My 04 is running rough. Has shakes. Changed plugs, wires, tried to change fuel filter would not come off. If there is any codes in the computer from the rough running. Now that I changed the plugs, wires, someone told me that you can clear the codes by taking the terminals off the battery and touching the positive to the negative and grounding it out. Is that true or bull?

i have cleared them just by leaving battery dissconnected for a while

Just disconnect the battery for the night and you should be good. Why would you want to clear the codes if you haven't had them read yet? Clearing them won't make it run better.

Will go and get codes read and then clear them. I was just going to see if it would take care of the problem. Just trying to watch the funds right now, kinda tight...
