Clicking-Ticking Coming from Valve Cover Areas

My bet is your oil spray bars being Clogged
No oil spraying down on the cams makes for some noise
No matter what you have to remove your valve covers
@donalds,

Thanks! Let's assume (for discussion purposes only) that my oil spray bars are clogged. That raises two questions:

1. Without taking anything apart, how can I unclog the oil spray bars?

2. If I remove the valve covers, then how do I unclog the oil spray bars?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

When I bought my new engine
Whoever strapped it in the crate broke my spray bar on the driver side.
Cracked the weld

I took one off my old engine but it was full of sludge

I used break clean and a pipe cleaner
All the holes in the bar are different slightly sizes so be careful

I don't see a way to clean them on the engine

could one use something like seafoam or motor medic and run it thru the motor?

Additives are good at opening up a restricted passage. Once it’s clogged? They typically don’t do anything

I run Seafoam for 200-300 miles before changing the oil. This is my way of heading off any potential sludging issues. Below is a photo of the passenger side head when the valve cover was off a few months ago. Overall, it looked pretty clean for having over 130k miles. This was after I had done five oil changes, and five Seafoam treatments, since I bought it around 2.5 years ago.
