climate control backlite not working

all right, i installed a new aftermarket cd player in the dash and four new speakers in the panels. i decided to forgoe the wire harness adapter and just run all new speaker wires back to the speakers. well everything works and sounds great, but now for some reason the backlite on the a/c blower and vent knobs etc. doesnt come on? funny thing is i just bought the explorer and im not exactly sure it worked in the first place? but i tend to kinda think they did? any ideas?im wondering if theres a wire in the bundle that went to the factory head unit?

There shouldn't be any wires for the climate control (illumination or otherwise) in the stereo wiring harness. I would guess that the bulbs are blown.
