I have a 2014 Ford Explorer XLT with a sunroof that leaks (of course). Heavy rain the other day and water drips down from the rearview mirror area and now my climate control system is dead. It has sync and the screen (nav, radio, etc all show up and work except the climate control section. It actually beeps when you touch the power or other buttons but nothing happens. The manual controls below that are completely dead, no lights, touch any button and defrost, AC, seats etc. that whole panel is dead. It seems to me the touchscreen is working fine but the signals are falling upon deaf ears of the actuals climate control system. I have unplugged the negative battery cable that didn't do anything. I have changed a couple of fuses but not sure I am hitting the right ones. tried 17 (10 amp) under the dash.

I did notice the AC bezel light did light up when I first opened the door but immediately went out.

Any thoughts?

Water behind the dash is not good.

First thing to do is fix the sunroof..get some air cans and blow out the drains. The seals are more than likely fine and its just clogging up with debris. Its very common....

The capacitive touch panel will need to be replaced more than likely. There could be more water damage as well. Removing the SYNC screen would give you more room to see whats getting wet etc

I had the same thing happen after a windshield replacement leaked badly. Fuses checked out fine. I took the controls out and there looked like obvious water damage on the circuit board. I cleaned it up best I could with rubbing alcohol. I also left a container of Damp Rid inside for a couple of weeks. It mostly started working again through the summer, but now that it is getting cooler out, it has been less reliable. It's annoying for sure, but not enough for me to start buying parts, yet. The most annoying is when the fan changes speeds on its own.
