I have been experiencing a clunk either in or around my rear end when getting on/off the gas or going from reverse to drive or from park into gear. That being said I took it to my local transmission guy who has always done a good job and he said the rear end is wearing out? The reason I am skeptical on this one is because don't people have issues with the driveshaft CV joint? Is there a possibility that the clunk and jumble could be from that? If it helps there is a "whine" when hitting the gas from the rear end... there has been for a long time.
If it helps its an AWD SOHC 1997
