Looking to see if anyone has or has corrected this issue. My '95 4WD Explorer has a noticable loud clunk when braking that comes from the front drivetrain. It does not seem to be only when braking. If I coast to a stop on an up hill grade it will make this clunk about when the truck has slowed down to 5 MPH. I have checked the entire front drivetrain and can not see anything wrong. CV joints are in good condition. Calipers are not loose. U-joints in the drive shaft are good. Also, when it makes this clunk when slowing down and on the brakes the ABS comes on. I am suspecting something is wrong with the viscous coupler in the transfer case but do not know for sure. It makes this same clunk in and out of 4WD.
Any help would be great.

Check your radius arm bushings. Since you are driving a '95, it might be time to replace those. I've replaced them on my 91 and my father's 94

Thank you, but the '95 does not have radius arm bushings. I did replace them on my '92 several times.

Have you greased your driveshaft slip yoke?
