clunking noise and binding feeling when front wheels turned

my 2002 mercury mountaineer 4.0L AWD makes a clunking noise and binding/jerking feeling when the front wheels are trun either way from about 70% to 100% turned. i have heard it could be CV axles or bearings. Any ideas??????? i can only do basic things on a car. or if i have GOOD instructions. how difficult would this be to fix?

I have no idea... someone who does know should be along sometime though. Usually for a normal 4WD that would be normal if the hubs were engaged. But i'm not sure about AWD.. Sorry I can't help much.

thank you. the only thing is this goes up to 2001. mine is 2002 will it be the same or different?
