I have just purchased a 93 explorer sport with the 5 spd tranny, that needs a clutch I believe. It slips fretty bad when you get on it in 4th and 5th gear. My question is do they have the hydraulic line tool at autozone? and does the y pipe have to be pulled everytime or wont I know till I get to that point?
Just looking at it it seems like there is enough room to get the tranny out.

I had a 84 4x4 ranger that i used for off road and changed the clutch in that several times without removing the exhaust. Just wondered if it was the same, thanks for the help

That tool is fairly cheap, but I've read of one or two people here that it didn't work well for them. I used a very small flat blade screwdriver when I did mine, and it worked.

It would be easier to remove the Y pipe, than to work around it. A couple guys here have dropped the trans without removing the pipe. When I got to that point, It didn't look very doable, so I removed mine.

There's a couple threads around here about changing out the clutch, do a search and you might pick up some other opinions on these two things.

thanks guys was just curious, was going to start spraying the bolts with nut buster if it needed to be done for sure.
