Does anyone know if a clutch fan from my 1988 Mustang will fit on my 1994 Mazda Navajo? I put a electric fan on my Mustang and the clutch fan I have on the Navajo is cracking down at the base of the fan. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not off the top of my head but a tape measure and counting the blade should give you a fair answer I would think. Or you could take it off and then match them up and see if there the same as Ford did use a lot of cross over parts.

What engine in the Mustang? Which way does it rotate? I know the fan from my BII (2.9 L engine) would not fit my Explorer because the 2.9 fan rotates the opposite direction from the 4.0.

Looking at the part numbers they don't match.. A fan clutch is only like $30..

Is it the actually clutch part or just the plastic fan blade part. Sounds like its just the fan blade. Just change it out and leave the clutch part alone.

yes it is just the plastic blades that are cracked and the clutch part works fine.Is there a write-up on how to change just the plastic fan part? thanks alot for your help on this guys!

The fan is easy to change. Remove the fan + clutch from the water pump. Then there are four bolts that hold the fan onto the clutch.

Ok I will try that. Thankyou MrShorty and everyone else for your help.

Hey guys I just wanted to ask one more question about the fan blades. The one from my Mustang has 9 fins and the one from the Navajo has 10. Other than that they are the exact same diameter. Can I still swap the blades even though the good one has one less blade but they bolt directly up? thankyou for your help guys!

Two thoughts
1) One less blade means it will draw a little less air. Whether the Mustang fan will draw enough air to cool the Explorer engine, I don't know. If you do it and end up having overheating issues, then the first suspect will be whether the fan has enough draw.

2) Essentially the same question as has been asked -- does the Mustang engine rotate the same direction as the Explorer engine? Or -- are the fan blades tilted in the same direction? It won't work if the fan blades are tilted so that it is trying to push air back through the radiator.

The fans blades from the Mustang are tilted the exact same way that the one from the Navajo is.
