I just purchased a 1991 Explorer with onky 64K and 5 speed trans, it drives great, but the chutch is so stiff that if you are a a stop light for very long your leg starts to shake, and you have to push the petal all the way to the floor to start the truck. The clutch does not slip but is sure has a stiff petal

It's probably the master cylinder. The newer OEM designs make for a hard to push pedal, so if the master cylinder was replaced, that would explain it. Failure to lube the input shaft inside the trans that the clutch slides on can also make for some extra effort.

About all you can do now is bleed the master/slave cylinder and see if fresh fluid and maybe any air getting taken out makes a difference.

You might want to check your clutch pedal to master cylinder shaft (visible attached to the clutch pedal under the dash), if it's made of black plastic, it might break eventually with the extra effort. Newer master cyls have an all-metal (gold or silver color) shaft to prevent this.
